Matt Tully identifies himself on Sunday, July 10, as the person wrongly accused of “spitting” and tells Cllr Daniel he will be seeking an apology. The reference to the Morning Star newspaper appears to be a confusion with another article about a hate crime against Seema Chandwani, secretary of Tottenham Constituency Labour Party, who spoke at the “Keep Corbyn” rally that preceded the AGM. Cllr Warren Morgan did not respond to Morning Star inquiries about that hate crime. Nor has he mentioned it in his statements.

Statement by Matt Tully, written on Sunday, July 10, after he made himself known to Councillor Warren Morgan, the leader of the Labour Group on Brighton and Hove City Council who alleged there had been “spitting” and “abusive behaviour” at the annual meeting of Brighton, Hove and District Labour Party. These allegations partly contributed to the City Party being suspended and the results annulled;
